passages into Chinese. 90%
1．I was never molested by
any person but those who represented the state. I had no lock nor bolt but for
the desk which held my papers, not even a nail to put over my latch or windows.
I never fastened my door night or day, though I was to be absent several days;
not even when the next fall I spent a fortnight in the woods of Maine. And yet my house was more respected than if it had been surrounded by a file of
soldiers. The tired rambler could rest and warm himself by my fire, the
literary amuse himself with the few books on my table, or the curious, by
opening my closet door, see what was left of my dinner, and what prospect I had
of a supper. Yet, though many people of every class came this way to the pond, I
suffered no serious inconvenience from these sources, and I never missed
anything but one small book, a volume of Homer, which perhaps was improperly
gilded, and this I trust a soldier of our camp has found by this time. I am convinced
that if all men were to live as simply as I then did, thieving and robbery
would be unknown. These take place only in communities where some have got more
than is sufficient while others have not enough. The Pope’s Homers would soon
get properly distributed.
“You who govern public affairs, what need have you to employ punishments? Love
virtue, and the people will be virtuous. The virtues of a superior man are like
the wind; the virtues of a common man are like the grass; the grass, when the
wind passes over it, bends.”（50%）
2. One in every five young people in this country
shows signs and symptoms of a mental health problem, but too often we don’t
recognize the warning signs. According to the U. S. Surgeon General half of
these young people will also develop a problem with drugs. Do you know what
signs to look for in your children and how to help?
Left untreated,
mental health and addiction disorders can result in poor performance in school,
behavior problems, relationship problems, or even suicide. More teenagers and
young adults die from suicide that from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth effects,
stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease
combined. Experts
say that unfortunately, most of these young people don’t get the professional
help they need before it’s too late.
Substance abuse and mental health problems are each
primary disorders. However, research shows that when a young person has both
mental health and substance abuse problems, it’s usually the mental health
disorder that develops first. Young people with mental health problems may use marijuana,
other illicit drugs, or alcohol to try to treat themselves, or “self-medicate.”
This can rapidly lead to drug dependence. The illicit drug or alcohol use can
make mental health problems worse, or even interfere with medications
prescribed to treat the mental illness. In some young people, drug abuse can
create new symptoms that look like a mental health disorder, such as episodes
of depression, rage or illusion. （40%）

2．武术、气功可以健身，可以娱乐，可以治病，可以表演，甚至还可以成为职业。从这些意义上讲，武术和气功在体育文化中是处于领先地位的，所以越来越受到世界各国人民的喜爱。（20%）
